About us

Maria Cristina, better-known as MC, and Nelson, both immigrated from Venezuela to the US looking for opportunities. The difficult conditions in their home country forced them to seek alternatives to provide a better life to their children.

They met in The Woodlands (Tx), fell in love, married and started Avila Flavors & Experiences. Both bring a passion for food and good taste. MC is a marketing expert with over six years of experience with Kellogg’s. She was taught the culinary arts by her mother who is a chef in Venezuela. On the other hand, Nelson is a serial entrepreneur who started his first business while in his senior year of Industrial Engineering. Nelson was taught how to cook by his grandmother who was of French descent. They experienced firsthand the love for how ingredients were carefully selected, recipes crafted, and food cooked to perfection.

This combination and unique skills-set enabled them to not only craft delicious mouthwatering culinary experiences, but also to run a company using best in class business practices.

Avila, a National Park and the biggest blessing that the City of Caracas has, expresses everything that MC and Nelson want the concept to represent. The Avila is a great ornament of the city. It’s also truly a green lung, as well as an excellent place for exercise, scattering and entertainment. The Avila has an extraordinary culinary pocket in the town of Galipan. Without a doubt a very special place for MC and Nelson that reminds them of the roots.
