About the Chefs
Maria Cristina and Nelson, Venezuelan immigrants seeking a better life, found love and a shared passion for food in The Woodlands, Texas. MC, a marketing whiz and former long-time employee of Kellogg’s, and Nelson, a serial entrepreneur, combined their skills to launch Avila Flavors & Experiences. MC's culinary heritage from her chef mother and Nelson's French grandmother fuel their delicious creations. They experienced firsthand the love for how ingredients were carefully selected, recipes crafted, and food cooked to perfection. This combination and unique skills-set enabled them to not only craft delicious mouthwatering culinary experiences, but also to run a company using best in class business practices.
Inspired by Caracas' majestic Avila National Park, The Avila has an extraordinary culinary pocket in the town of Galipan. It’s very special place for MC and Nelson that reminds them of their roots, inspiring their passion to not just offer food, but a taste of home.
